Music for the Eyes 2025#3

A kaleidoscope of rhythm, geometry, and colour woven into a vibrating visual symphony.

This artwork operates like a visual composition in which circles become instruments and patterns become musical phrases. The dense layering of geometric forms, each filled with its own internal rhythm of stripes, grids, and cross-hatches, creates a dynamic tension between order and exuberance. The work suggests both mathematical precision and playful spontaneity, inviting the viewer to “listen” to the painting through its syncopated repetitions and chromatic harmonies.

The overlapping structure is particularly effective: thick black outlines create a sense of architectural framing, holding together areas that would otherwise feel chaotic. The layering suggests transparent planes or shifting lenses, producing depth without relying on shading. Meanwhile, the yellow background acts almost like a stage of vibrating light, amplifying the saturation of the blues, pinks, greens, and purples floating above it.

About the art

The warm yellow background sets the piece pulsing, while the overlapping orbits of differently patterned circles generate a sense of cosmic motion, structured yet improvisational.

Colour relationships are carefully orchestrated: high-contrast complements (blue/yellow, pink/green) energise the eye, while repeated patterns create rhythm and continuity. Despite the density, the composition never collapses into noise because its geometric logic is precise. The result is a piece that feels simultaneously analytical and musical, structured and ecstatic; an abstract tableau that rewards prolonged looking.
